Home / NFL / Daily Fantasy NFL Week 13 Studs vs. Duds for Cash Games

I hope everyone enjoyed Thanksgiving! It’s back to the grind now, but Christmas will be here before we know it. It’s week 13 of the NFL season and we only have several weeks before the DFS football season is finished.

This article will focus on studs and duds in cash games at DraftKings and FanDuel.

FantasyAces NFL Week 13 DFS TargetsI also play over at FantasyAces. They don’t offer as many micro stake contests (<$5), but they have a good selection of heads-to-head, top 2, top 3 and 50/50 double-up contests every week of the NFL season.

It’s never too late to improve your DFS game. FantasyLabs offers a monthly subscription price, so even though the season is winding down, you can sign-up for a month and utilize the models the pros are using.

DFS studs to target for NFL week 13

  • QB: Drew Brees $9300 (FanDuel) and $7600 (DraftKings)

Brees is the most expensive QB this week and he’s in a prime spot against Detroit. The Lions rank 28th against QBs at DK, despite only allowing 250.9 PYPG (14th) and 21.6 PPG (16th). Brees just scored 36.5 FPs in a nearly perfect game against the LA Rams last week. He went 28/36 for 310 passing yards, 4 TDs and 0 INTs.

Brees bumped his FPPG average up to 26.1, which leads all QBs. I love using Brees in cash. He has tons of weapons on offense and will almost always throw 35+ passes. With him being at home, he’s a no-brainer. In six home games, Brees has thrown for 300+ yards and 3 TDs in five. The only game he didn’t was against the Seahawks defense.

  • RB: David Johnson $9200 (FanDuel) and $9500 (DraftKings)

You have to roster either David Johnson or Le’Veon Bell ($9300 at FD and $9200 at DK). Johnson is questionable and has been limited with a finger injury, but he’s expected to be fine by Sunday. Arizona host the Redskins in a game that should feature a lot of points. The game total is among the highest this week at 49 points.

Washington allow 252.9 PYPG (16th), 116.7 RYPG (25th) and 23.5 PPG (22nd). Johnson has scored 27+ FPs in each of the Cardinals last three games and in two of those games he rushed for less than 60 yards. He has 7 or 8 receptions in four of Arizona’s last five games and he has 1 receiving TD in each of the last three weeks.

  • WR: Mike Evans $8500 (FanDuel) and $8600 (DraftKings)

Julio Jones ($8300 at FD and $8700 at DK) was tempting me. I expected him to have beastly home splits, but he has scored less than 17 FPs in three of five home games this season. My #1 WR this week is Evans against the Chargers who are allowing 271.3 PYPG (26th) and 24.8 PPG (24th). I can’t see Evans putting up a dud.

Evans has seen 10+ targets in every game except two this season and he has gone for 100+ receiving yards in three of the last four Buccaneers games. With that type of work, Evans floor is safe against a brutal SD secondary.

  • TE: Travis Kelce $6300 (FanDuel) and $4700 (DraftKings)

I love Kelce on any site, but he’s exceptional value at DraftKings. Kelce has seen his role expand in recent weeks due to the injury to Jeremy Maclin. Maclin could be back this week, but Kelce will still see a lot of targets. Kelce has hauled in 15 receptions (24 targets) for 209 yards the last two weeks, but hasn’t found the endzone since week 8.

Kelce has scored 20+ FPs in each of the last two games and that’s without a TD. Atlanta rank 27th against TEs, 32nd in passing yards allowed (282.2 PYPG) and 30th in points against (26.9 PPG).

  • DST: Denver Broncos $5000 (FanDuel) and $3900 (DraftKings)

I love the Broncos DST this week, but you’ll need to spend up. Denver are on the road against the pass-happy Jaguars who are averaging 19.5 PPG (24th), 237.9 PYPG (21st) and 96.3 RYPG (24th). Blake Bortles is also tied in the lead for throwing the most interceptions (13), so we could be in line for multiple INTs by the Broncos defense again.

Denver have allowed one team (Saints) to pass for more than 250 passing yards in a game this season. I’m not even a little bit concerned about the Jags run game. The Denver DST definitely offers the best floor in week 13.

FanDuel NFL Week 13 DFS Picks

DFS duds to avoid for NFL week 13

  • QB: Matt Ryan $8600 (FanDuel) and $6800 (DraftKings)

Ryan is way too expensive at FD and while he’s reasonably priced at DK, he’s a fade for me this week. The Chiefs rank 27th against QBs and allow 260.5 PYPG (20th), but they only give up 19.5 PPG (10th). Atlanta will also be able to move the football on ground against the Chiefs run defense (121.4 RYPG – 29th), which hurts Ryan’s floor.

  • RB: LeSean McCoy $8400 (FanDuel) and $7800 (DraftKings)

I like McCoy in GPPs as he has a high ceiling and the Raiders defense is brutal. Oakland allow 25 PPG (25th), 116.9 RYPG (26th) and 273.5 PYPG (28th). McCoy will be popular after scoring 32.4 FPs last week, but if you take away his career-long 75-yard TD run, he only gained 28 yards on 18 carries against the Jaguars.

Tyrod Taylor has been eating into McCoy’s rushing production. Taylor also has 4 rushing TDs in the Bills last five games, which hurts McCoy. With Bell and Johnson in good spots, there’s no reason to spend up on McCoy in cash.

  • WR: Amari Cooper $7800 (FanDuel) and $7300 (DraftKings)

Cooper’s price remains high because of his upside in GPPs. He can produce 30+ FPs any given Sunday, but the issue is he has struggled with consistency. He’s a boom or bust pick and not cheap to roster. This week Oakland host Buffalo who only allow 21.3 PPG (13th) and 227.7 PYPG (8th). Spend up elsewhere at WR and save Cooper for GPP line-ups.

  • TE: Greg Olsen $6200 (FanDuel) and $5100 (DraftKings)

At the time of publishing, options are thin if you want an elite TE. Rob Gronkowski and Jordan Reed both were absent from practice on Wednesday and are officially listed as questionable. Tyler Eifert and Greg Olsen will garner attention because of the injuries, but both TEs are in tough match-ups and have low floors this week.

Olsen has seen his targets drop from earlier in the season and he has gone three weeks without cracking double-digits in fantasy points. With a road game against Seattle on the schedule, Olsen is a fade in cash and GPPs.

  • DST: Baltimore Ravens $4600 (FanDuel) and $3000 (DraftKings)

Miami have won six in a row, Ryan Tannehill has only one turnover during the winning streak and the Dolphins have an improved run game with Jay Ajayi running hard. Sure, the Ravens only allow 18.1 PPG (4th), 74.9 RYPG (1st) and 222.9 PYPG (6th), but where will the points come for the Ravens DST?

NFL week 13 ATS best bet

Detroit Lions +5.5 (-110) – Bet at the Bovada Sportsbook and get up to a $250 bonus.

I love the Lions getting points against the Saints in what should be a back and forth shootout. The Lions have now won three in a row and they’ve only lost by more than six points twice (2x losses by TD) all season. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Lions upset the Saints and a wager on the Lions money line (+220) is tempting.

These teams have played each other H2H one time in each of the last two seasons and the Lions have won both.
